South American Yard

At this South American exhibit, dwell species representing the various habitats in South America: the South American tapir, the largest land-dwelling animal in South America, found mainly in marsh areas, and the capybara, the world’s largest rodent, which comes from tropical brush areas.
Another South American species is the collared peccary, a species from all over South America. The peccary may seem closely related to the pig but is actually connected to a different animal family.
