A choking snake fromthe boa family, this boa is common in South America and can reach a length of 2– 3 meters. This type of snake likes to remain mostly on the ground, and thusits coloring is suited for camouflaging among the grounds of the tropicalforests. The snake waits in ambush for its prey to approach, and then itpounces, biting and strongly grasping its prey, preventing it from breathing, thus overpowering it. This snake is designated in Appendix 1 of the Conventionon International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES),whose aim is to limit and regulate the trade of endangered wildlife, due to itsdepleting population in the wild, as a result of harm to its habitat and totrade.
